Individual therapy
You may wish to begin therapy alone if you would like to better understand yourself and how you relate to others. Individual therapy can offer you support and the opportunity to find a way through the difficulties of the moment by exploring them in the context of your early and present life experiences.
Therapy aims to make you more conscious of suppressed fears and anxieties and their effects, so that you are better able to make sensible, self serving choices about what you do.
The advantages of coming alone
There are circumstances when coming together isn’t possible or desirable:
- You may wish to understand yourself better through exploring your relationships in general.
- You may have split up from your partner and are feeling overwhelmed and in need of support.
- You may feel the need to work things through on your own without your partner because you may already feel fairly sure you wish to leave.
- Your relationship problem may be that you simply don’t have a significant relationship and are not sure why not.
If you come alone we will focus on whatever issues are distressing you. There is no agenda, we explore whatever you bring.
I have training and experience in working with both individuals and couples.
